Welcome to the Laboratory for Nonlinear Systems Control
The main thrust of research and development work in the Laboratory For Nonlinear Systems Control is in the area of robotics, automation and control. Our work has focused in the past on large scale robotic control for exampel, automated assembly of flexible metal parts. At the small scale, we have explored automated assembly of 3D MEMS devices. Our work is now focused on micro-scale biological task control and automation, with the development of automated single cell surgery methodologies. At the micro-scale, these processes are controlled with vision feedback, with images obtained from microscopes. Design of hardware to permit testing of concepts and processes is central to the work done. Though close work with key industries in Canada, real world automation problems have been identified which simultaneously provide rich research problem areas and important vehicles for technology transfer to industry.
